BMW Motorrad R1300gs: Vario Side Case – Customer Notification For Continued Usage
BMW is notifying owners of 1,748 R1300GS motorcycles equipped with Vario side cases that the locking catches on the case lids may fail to engage properly, potentially allowing the lids to open while riding. BMW will install additional safety measures and a warning label on affected motorcycles, and will replace the defective cases once replacements become available.

- On motorcycles fitted with the accessory Vario side cases it is possible the locking catches for the lid do not engage and the lid is not securely locked. In this circumstance the lid may come open during use.
