Dunnes Stores Recalls Several Cheeses And Products Containing Cheese Because Of Possible Contamination With Listeria Monocytogenes
Dunnes Stores is recalling nine cheese products and cheese-containing products that may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes bacteria. The affected products were made by or contain ingredients from Wicklow Farmhouse Cheese and were sold in Northern Ireland. Listeria can cause flu-like symptoms in most people, but can lead to serious complications like meningitis in vulnerable groups including pregnant women, people over 65, newborns, and those with weakened immune systems.

Symptoms caused by this organism can be similar to flu and include high temperature, muscle ache or pain, chills, feeling or being sick and diarrhoea. However, in rare cases, the infection can be more severe, causing serious complications, such as meningitis. Some people are more vulnerable to listeria infections, including those over 65 years of age, pregnant women and their unborn babies, babies less than one month old and people with weakened immune systems.
