Vw Transporter T7: Rear Lid Gas Strut
Volkswagen is recalling 800 Transporter T7 vehicles because the rear lid's gas struts may fail, potentially allowing the lid to fall unexpectedly if pressed too hard when opening. The upper ball socket can detach from the gas strut, leaving only one strut to support the lid, which is insufficient. Dealers will inspect the gas struts and replace them if needed.

- VW
- Product
- Vehicles: VW TRANSPORTER T7. Units affected: 800
- Reason
- For affected vehicles applying excess pressure to open the rear lid to its end position may cause the upper ball socket to detach from the gas strut allowing the rear lid to fall without restraint as one gas strut alone cannot hold it open. Remedy: The gas struts of the rear lid will be checked and if necessary replaced.
