Mitsubishi Asx: Power Steering Assistance May Be Inoperative

Mitsubishi ASX Power Steering Recall Summary Mitsubishi is recalling 6,154 ASX vehicles (right-hand drive models) because the electrical wiring to the power steering control unit may not be properly secured. Vibration from normal driving could disconnect this wiring, causing the power steering to stop working and making the steering heavier, though the vehicle would still be controllable. Affected vehicles will be repaired by installing a modified bracket and securing clip.

Vehicles: MITSUBISHI ASX. Units affected: 6,154
Reason
On a number of right hand drive vehicles it has been established that the electrical wiring harness to the power assisted steering control unit for the Electric Power Steering (EPS) has not been secured correctly. Vehicle vibration could cause a break in the connection between the harness and the control unit. Should this occur the EPS warning light will illuminate on the dash and the driver will experience heavier steering control although control of the vehicle is not lost. Remedy: All affected vehicles will be recalled for the fitment of a modified bracket and securing clip.
