Land Rover Freelander: Fire May Occur
Recall Summary Land Rover is recalling approximately 98,208 Freelander and Range Rover vehicles because a fuel leak can develop where the injector spill rail connects to the plastic fuel return pipe. If fuel contacts hot engine components like the exhaust manifold, it could cause an under-bonnet fire, or if it leaks onto the road, it could create a skid hazard for other drivers. Dealers will inspect the fuel spill rail and return pipe connection, replacing the spill rail if necessary.

- Product
- Vehicles: LAND ROVER FREELANDER, LAND ROVER RANGE ROVER. Units affected: 98,208
- Reason
- It is possible that a leak can occur between the injector spill rail connection and the plastic fuel return pipe. This can cause leakage of fuel which can either pool on the engine cylinder head and then become deposited onto the road surface where it could cause a skid risk to other motorist or if the fuel comes into contact with extremely hot engine components an exhaust manifold for instance it is possible that an under bonnet fire could ensue. Remedy: Recall all affected vehicles inspect the fuel spill rail/return pipe and if required replace the spill rail with a new modified rail.
