Suzuki Vz1500: Engine May Stall And/or Fail To Start

Recall Summary Suzuki is recalling approximately 274,000 motorcycles across multiple models because the regulator/rectifier component may malfunction due to moisture exposure during storage. When this part fails, it can prevent the battery from charging properly, which may cause the engine to stall or fail to start. Suzuki will replace the affected regulator/rectifier component on recalled motorcycles.

Reason
The regulator/rectifier circuit board may have absorbed moisture during storage under high humidity conditions which reduced the strength of the adhesive used to fix the circuit board to the outer casing. Due to the insufficient adhesion the heat generated can cause the circuit board to deform and lift away from the case. This condition causes excessive heat and uncontrolled electric current output which can result in the poor charging to the battery. This can cause the battery to discharge and lead to engine stalling and/or a no-start condition. Remedy: Recall the machines that are likely...
