Subaru Outback: Brake Lamps May Not Function
Subaru is recalling 436 Outback vehicles in the United Kingdom because the brake lamp switch may fail without alerting the driver, which could result in non-functioning brake lights and disable safety features like adaptive cruise control and pre-collision braking. A failed brake lamp switch would increase the risk of accidents since other drivers wouldn't see the brake lights. Subaru will reprogram the driving support system in affected vehicles.

- SUBARU
- Product
- Vehicles: SUBARU OUTBACK. Units affected: 436
- Reason
- There is no inherent problem with the brake lamp switch. However if the brake lamp switch did fail the driver would not be informed that the brake lamps were not working or the adaptive cruise control or pre-collision braking. The brake lamps not working would increase the risk of an incident during normal driving. Remedy: Recall the vehicles that are likely to be affected and reprogram the driving support system.
