Suzuki Swift: Battery May Fail To Charge Which Could Cause Engine To Stall And Lights To Fade

Recall Summary Suzuki is recalling 25,252 Swift, Baleno, and Ignis vehicles in the United Kingdom because faulty software in the engine control module can prevent the battery from charging properly. If this problem goes unaddressed and the car continues to be driven, the battery may drain to the point where the headlights dim and the engine stalls and won't restart. Suzuki will fix the issue by updating the software in the affected vehicles.

Product
Vehicles: SUZUKI SWIFT, SUZUKI BALENO, SUZUKI IGNIS. Units affected: 25,252
Reason
Due to incorrect software in the Engine Control Module (ECM) the ENG A-STOP (Engine Auto Stop Start System) OFF light may blink & the ENG A-STOP system may become inoperative. If the car is driven continuously in this condition the lead-acid battery will not be charged. In the worst case there is a possibility that the lights will dim and the engine may stall and not restart due to low battery voltage. Remedy: Recall the vehicles that are likely to be affected and reprogramme the ECM with corrected software.
