Honda Motorcycles Cb1000s: Gear Change Pedal Bolt
Recall Summary Honda is recalling 980 CB1000S and CB1000SPS motorcycles because heat from the exhaust system can cause the gear change pedal bolt to loosen and potentially fall off, which would prevent the rider from changing gears. The fix involves removing paint from the bolt area and installing a modified pivot bolt with an additional washer. This recall affects motorcycles distributed in the United Kingdom.

- Product
- Vehicles: HONDA MOTORCYCLES CB1000S, HONDA MOTORCYCLES CB1000SPS. Units affected: 980
- Reason
- On affected motorcycles due to the proximity of the exhaust to the gear change pivot bolt radiant heat from the exhaust system increases the temperature of the gear change pivot bolt seat causing the painted surface to buckle and the bolt to loosen. In some cases the pivot bolt can fall off and the gear change pedal sags leaving the rider unable to change gear. Remedy: Remove paint from the Gear change pedal fastening seat surface and install a modified Gear change pedal pivot bolt and additional washer.
