Coach Industries: Hazard Indicator Light Not Displayed On Instrument Panel (electrical System)

Recall Summary Motor Coach Industries is recalling certain 2018-2026 buses because the hazard indicator light on the instrument panel may not turn on when the hazard warning lights are active and the master run switch is off. This means drivers may not realize the hazard lights are still on and could leave them activated, which may confuse other drivers and increase crash risk. MCI will fix the problem with a free software update, with owner notification letters expected to arrive November 24, 2026.

The instrument panel indicator light may not illuminate when the hazard warning lights are on and the master run switch is in the 'Off' position. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment."
Reason
Without the illuminated reminder, the driver may fail to turn off the exterior lights when no longer needed. Hazard warning lights that remain activated unintentionally can confuse other drivers, increasing the risk of a crash. Remedy: MCI will update the software, free of charge.
