Honda Motorcycles Crf450r: Gearbox May Fail
Honda is recalling 727 CRF450R motorcycles because the fifth gear on the gearbox can break due to a manufacturing defect that weakened the gear's fatigue strength. The broken gear can cause the gearbox to fail. Affected owners in the United Kingdom will need to have their motorcycles disassembled and reassembled with a replacement gear.

- Vehicles: HONDA MOTORCYCLES CRF450R. Units affected: 727
- Reason
- The countershaft 5th gear dogs used for engaging 3rd gear are broken. Although the material strength of the gear has been increased the fatigue strength was decreased due to the removal of shot peening treatment to the root of the dogs of countershaft 5th gear used for engaging 3rd gear. This led to breakage starting from the root of the dogs. Remedy: Affected machines will be recalled to be disassembled and reassembled using the latest countermeasure replacement.
