Mercedes Benz Bus Citaro: Passenger Anti-trap Mechanism May Fail When Pneumatic Doors Are Depowered

Mercedes Benz is recalling 555 Citaro buses because a design error can prevent the anti-trap safety mechanism from working when the pneumatic doors lose power. If a person or object is in the door frame when power is lost, they could be pinched. The remedy involves installing bridging cables to modify the door valve so the sensor continues detecting obstructions until the door fully closes.
