Hyundai Trajet: Suspension May Fail

Hyundai Trajet and Santa Fe Suspension Recall Hyundai is recalling approximately 67,708 Trajet and Santa Fe vehicles sold in the United Kingdom because corrosion may weaken the rear suspension arms, potentially causing them to fail and affecting the vehicle's steering control. Santa Fe models may also have corrosion issues with the front sub-frame. Hyundai will inspect the suspension components and either apply a protective wax oil coating if corrosion is minor, or replace the parts if corrosion is severe.

Product
Vehicles: HYUNDAI TRAJET, HYUNDAI SANTA FE. Units affected: 67,708
Reason
Trajet and Sante Fe - Corrosion may build up and weaken the rear suspension arms to an extent where they could fail and the directional control of the vehicle could be affected. Sante Fe models additionally have a similar concern with the front sub-frame. Remedy: Recall the vehicles that are likely to be affected to test the thickness of the metal of the suspension arms. If the corrosion is not too advanced the arms/sub-frame will be wax oiled. If the corrosion is advanced the suspension arms will have to be changed.
