Land Rover Range Rover Sport: Front Passenger Airbag May Not Deploy

Land Rover is recalling 1,808 vehicles (Range Rover Sport, Range Rover Evoque, Range Rover, and Discovery models) because the front passenger airbag may not deploy in a collision due to an incorrect chemical mixture in the airbag initiator. This defect increases the risk of injury to front passengers if a crash occurs. The remedy involves replacing the airbag with a properly manufactured component.

Product
Vehicles: LAND ROVER RANGE ROVER SPORT, LAND ROVER RANGE ROVER EVOQUE, LAND ROVER RANGE ROVER, LAND ROVER DISCOVERY. Units affected: 1,808
Reason
It has been identified by the air-bag manufacturer that the air-bag initiator generant mix ratio does not meet specification. This can therefore result in the initiator not functioning correctly which can lead to non-deployment of the air-bag. Should a collision occur then there is an increased risk of injury to the passenger. Remedy: Recall all affected vehicles to replace the air-bag with a new quality assured component.
