Honda Motorcycles Vfr1200f/fd: Rear Wheel May Lock-up

Honda is recalling 7,248 VFR1200F, VFR1200FD, VFR1200X, and VFR1200XD motorcycles sold in the United Kingdom because the drive shaft universal joint bearing may not have been manufactured correctly and could fail. If the bearing fails, the rear wheel could lock up, reducing stability and increasing crash risk. Honda will replace the drive shaft on affected motorcycles.

Vehicles: HONDA MOTORCYCLES VFR1200F/FD, HONDA MOTORCYCLES VFR1200X/XD. Units affected: 7,248
Reason
The drive shaft universal joint bearing may fail because it has not have been manufactured to specification which can lead to drive force being lost and in worst case scenario if the universal joint breaks it may interfere with the swing arm and cause the rear wheel to lock-up. This may result in a reduction in stability control and increase the risk of a crash. Remedy: Recall the machines that are likely to be affected and replace the drive shaft.
