Recall Summary Honda is recalling 22,184 vehicles from 2022-2025 (Civic, Civic Type R, CR-V, and ZR-V models) because grease in the steering gearbox can decrease over time, causing the steering to make abnormal noises or stick when turning. The fix involves either replacing the pre-load spring and adding grease, or replacing the entire steering gearbox depending on the model.

Reason
On affected vehicles due to decrease of the grease amount in the worm wheel gear meshing area of the EPS gear box during use the sliding resistance at the meshing area increases and the torque fluctuation when turning the steering becomes larger resulting in an abnormal noise or a dangerous sticking occurs when turning the steering.
