BMW Motorrad K Series: Reduction Of Front Brake Efficiency

BMW Motorrad is recalling 152 K Series motorcycles because vibration during prolonged high-speed riding can cause brake fluid to foam, potentially allowing air into the front brake system and reducing braking power. The motorcycles were distributed in the United Kingdom. BMW Motorrad will bleed the front brake system and install a damper weight in the brake fluid reservoir to fix the issue.

Product
Vehicles: BMW MOTORRAD K SERIES. Units affected: 152
Reason
Vibration on a long ride at a constantly high engine speed can under certain circumstances causing foaming of the brake fluid in the reservoir of the front brakes. The possibility therefore of this foaming causing air to enter into the braking system cannot be excluded. Should air enter the system the efficiency of the front brakes can diminish severely dependant upon the volume of air which has entered the system. Remedy: Recalled machines will have the front brake system bled and a damper weight installed in the front brake fluid reservoir.
