Volvo Car S40: Brakes May Not Perform Adequately

Recall Summary Volvo is recalling approximately 12,024 vehicles (S40, V70, V50, C30, C70, and S80 models) sold in the United Kingdom because a faulty non-return valve in the vacuum pump may reduce brake assistance during cold starts. When this occurs, drivers will need to apply more pressure to the brake pedal than normal, though the brakes will still work. Volvo will replace the non-return valve in affected vehicles.
