Honda Motorcycles Vt750: Possibility Of A Fuel Leak Which May Cause Fire
Honda is recalling approximately 5,852 motorcycles (VT750, CBF600, VTX1300, CBF500, and VTR1000 models) sold in the United Kingdom because a faulty fuel valve diaphragm may allow fuel to leak from the valve assembly. In worst-case scenarios, fuel can drip from the valve when the motorcycle is sitting idle with the engine running, which poses a fire risk. Honda will replace the fuel valve assembly on affected motorcycles.
- Recalling firm
- HONDA MOTORCYCLES
- Product
- Vehicles: HONDA MOTORCYCLES VT750, HONDA MOTORCYCLES CBF600, HONDA MOTORCYCLES VTX1300, HONDA MOTORCYCLES CBF500, HONDA MOTORCYCLES VTR1000. Units affected: 5,852
- Reason
- It has been identified that the possibility exists that the fuel control valve diaphragm within the fuel valve assembly may not have been manufactured to specification. Due to poor adhesion of the rubber to nylon backing material fuel can seep through the nylon fibres to the vented side of the diaphragm. In the worst case fuel can drip slowly from the valve when the machine is stationary with the engine idling. Remedy: Recalled machines will be fitted with a countermeasure fuel valve set.
