Dennis Eagle Narrow: Brakes May Fail

Recall Summary Dennis Eagle is recalling 98 Narrow vehicles because the brake actuator clamping bands on the front axle may weaken and fail when the steering is turned fully and brake pads are worn down. If this occurs, the front brakes could stop working, requiring much longer distances to stop. The company will replace the front axle shock absorber brackets and install new actuator clamping rings if needed.

Product
Vehicles: DENNIS EAGLE NARROW. Units affected: 98
Reason
The brake actuator clamping bands on the front axle may be weakened through fouling the shock absorber top mounting when the steering is on full lock and the brake pads are worn considerably. In time the clamping ring may fail and the braking effort at the front axle will be lost resulting in much longer stopping distances. Remedy: Recall the vehicles that are likely to be affected to replace the top shock absorber brackets of the front axle and if there has been any signs of fouling fit new actuator clamping rings.
