Honda Motor CO Civic: Passenger Side Airbag May Fail To Deploy Correctly

Honda is recalling approximately 155,675 vehicles including Civic, CR-V, Stream, Jazz, and Accord models in the United Kingdom because the front passenger airbag inflators may have been made with defective propellant wafers. If these inflators activate in a crash, the airbag may deploy abnormally or the inflator could rupture, potentially causing injury or fire. Honda will inspect and replace the airbag inflator module in affected vehicles.

Product
Vehicles: HONDA MOTOR CO CIVIC, HONDA MOTOR CO CR-V, HONDA MOTOR CO STREAM, HONDA MOTOR CO JAZZ, HONDA MOTOR CO ACCORD. Units affected: 155,675
Reason
The subject vehicles are equipped with front passenger airbag inflators which could have been assembled with improperly manufactured propellant wafers. Improperly manufactured propellant wafers could cause the inflator to rupture and the front passenger airbag to deploy abnormally in a crash. This could result in increased risk of injury to the occupant or in a thermal issue in the interior compartment which may lead to fire. Remedy: Recall the vehicles that are likely to be affected to inspect and where necessary replace the airbag inflator module.
