Kawasaki Kvf: Possbile Failure Of Suspension/steering

Recall Summary Kawasaki is recalling 4,232 KVF vehicles because a hard impact to the front wheel while steering is turned fully can damage the steering ball joint mounting hole. Over time, this damage can cause the ball joint to loosen and eventually separate, leading to steering and suspension failure. Owners will be instructed to inspect their steering and suspension before riding, and affected vehicles will have their steering components replaced.

Vehicles: KAWASAKI KVF. Units affected: 4,232
Reason
It has been established that a significant impact to either front wheel whilst the steering is on full lock can result in deformation of the steering ball joint mounting hole within the steering knuckle. Over time the ball joint can become loose in the knuckle and cause the mounting hole to wear. Continued use of the vehicle in this condition may eventually lead to separation of the ball joint resulting in suspension/steering failure and the potential for an accident. Remedy: It is the intention to recall all likely to be affected machines and change the subject steering components....
