- The steering column sliding connection may seize on its lower splines. This can cause vertical loading on the clamping bolts and eventually lead to steering failure. Remedy: Recall the affected vehicles and replace the steering column lower sliding shaft with a sealed for life version. The clamp bolts will also be renewed.
