Mazda Mazda2: Handbrake May Disengage Unexpectedly
Mazda2 Handbrake Recall Summary Mazda is recalling 16,162 Mazda2 vehicles in the United Kingdom because the handbrake sector gear may not meet design specifications, which could cause the handbrake to disengage unexpectedly and allow the vehicle to move on its own. The issue stems from out-of-tolerance teeth on the gear that reduce proper engagement with the ratchet pawl. Mazda will replace the handbrake lever mechanism to fix the problem.
