Wabco Trisop Actuator: Actuators May Lose Functionality
Recall Summary WABCO is recalling 1,462 TRISTOP actuators used in vehicles because some units may have been incorrectly assembled, causing them to potentially lose braking functionality. The issue primarily affects vehicles with frequent parking brake use, such as city buses and garbage collection vehicles, where brake failure poses a safety risk. - Vehicles: WABCO TRISOP ACTUATOR. Units affected: 1,462
- Reason
- On some TRISTOP actuators the chambers may not have been correctly assembled and the load from power spring and pressure is not fully taken. Under certain circumstances the parking side and the service sides of the actuator could separate and the actuator could lose functionality. Ultimately this could lead to a loss of braking functionality and/or brake failure. Critical applications are vehicles such as city buses or garbage collection vehicles (subject to a high parking brake frequency). Long haul applications are not considered critical and thus do not require an exchange. Remedy:...
