Ducati Diavel: Steering Lock May Not Engage
Recall Summary Ducati is recalling 1,720 Diavel and Multistrada motorcycles sold in the United Kingdom because a software issue in the Hands Free control unit may prevent the electronic steering lock from disengaging when the instrument panel is switched on. This could allow the engine to start while the steering remains locked. Ducati has developed new software (version 44) to reprogram the control unit and fix the problem.

- Vehicles: DUCATI DIAVEL, DUCATI MULTISTRADA. Units affected: 1,720
- Reason
- Software version of the Hands Free control unit revision 43 under some special conditions of use (upon instrument panel switch on) could fail to disengage the electronic steering lock. It may then be possible to start the engine before realising the steering is still locked. Remedy: A new software version 44 has been designed to allow the reprogram of the hands free control unit.
