Kia Sorento Mq4: Kia Cluster Malfunction Recall

Summary Kia is recalling approximately 8,730 vehicles from multiple models (Sorento MQ4, Sportage NQ5, EV9, K4, EV4, EV3, and EV6) sold in the United Kingdom because the instrument cluster screen may respond slowly after starting and could reset when the turn signal is used, or the Blind View Monitor may display incorrectly. The issue is caused by a software problem related to temperature sensor readings. Kia will fix the problem with a software update that can be done over the air or at a dealer.

Vehicles: KIA SORENTO MQ4, KIA SPORTAGE NQ5, KIA EV9, KIA K4, KIA EV4, KIA EV3, KIA EV6. Units affected: 8,730
Reason
The instrument cluster screen may respond slowly immediately after starting the vehicle. During this condition activating the turn signal can cause the cluster to reset or the Blind View Monitor (BVM) within the cluster to turn green. The malfunction is caused by PMIC noise induced falsely high temperature sensor readings which trigger the chip protection logic above a certain threshold and lead to performance limitation up to reboot or black screen. Remedy: Over The Air software update or dealer software update
