2026 BMW 2 Series - Lights And Instruments

BMW is recalling 7 units of the 2026 BMW 2 Series because a body panel behind the right tail light may not be properly sealed, allowing water to leak into the trunk. This water intrusion could disable the power steering and park distance control, and over time may damage wiring and cause electrical sparks. None of these vehicles have been delivered to customers yet; BMW will have dealers seal the panel before delivery.

Issue: On a small number of vehicles, a body panel behind the right tail light housing may not have been sealed properly. As a result, water could leak into the trunk and cause the park distance control and electronic power steering not to work. Additionally, over time, wiring in the trunk could become damaged and cause a short circuit or electrical arcing (sparks).
