Mercedes Benz B Class: Rear Back-rest May Fail

Mercedes-Benz is recalling 100 B Class vehicles because the rear seat back-rest lock may not meet specifications and could fail during a rear-end collision, potentially allowing the seat back to fold forward. The affected vehicles have the Easy Vario seat system. Mercedes-Benz UK will check and replace the rear back-rest lock if needed on recalled vehicles.

Vehicles: MERCEDES BENZ B CLASS. Units affected: 100
Reason
It is possible that vehicles fitted with the Easy Vario seat system may have a seat back-rest lock that is not to specification. This could in the event of extreme loading (a rear end collision) result in the lock failing and the seat back-rest folding forward possibly causing injury to the occupant. Remedy: Recall all affected vehicles to check and if required replace the rear back-rest lock.
