Porsche 918 Spyder: Possibility Of Fire

Porsche 918 Spyder Recall Summary Porsche is recalling 48 918 Spyder vehicles because the wiring harness for the left radiator may be touching a carbon fiber heat guide plate, which could damage the wiring and cause the radiator fan to stop working. A damaged harness could create an electrical short circuit that may cause the vehicle to catch fire, potentially even after the engine is turned off. Dealers will inspect and secure the wiring harness with an additional clamp, and repair any damaged wiring.

Vehicles: PORSCHE 918 SPYDER. Units affected: 48
Reason
The wiring harness for the left hand radiator could be touching a heat guide plate made of carbon fibre. Therefore the harness could be damaged causing the radiator fan to stop working and an electric short circuit to the low resistance heat guide plate cannot be ruled out. This electric short circuit can cause the vehicle to catch fire even a long time after stopping the vehicle. Remedy: Recall the vehicles that are likely to be affected and check the routing of the wiring harness and the harness condition. The harness must be secured to the water tube using an additional tie wrap clamp....
