Kia Niro De Ev: Kia Niro De High Voltage Battery Damage Safety Recall
- Recalling firm
- KIA
- Product
- Vehicles: KIA NIRO DE EV. Units affected: 3,559
- Reason
- For affected vehicles due to insufficient detection capability in the current Battery Management System (BMS) diagnostic logic micro shorts between battery cells may remain unrecognised. Such undetected micro shorts can lead to cell overheating and a risk of fire while the vehicle is parked or charging. Remedy: Update the BMS software to enhance the battery diagnosis performance. If a Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is then recorded the dealer will either replace the faulty components or the complete battery pack assembly.
