Vw Polo: Brake Pipes May Chafe On Other Components

Volkswagen is recalling approximately 42,414 Polo vehicles because brake pipes may be positioned incorrectly, allowing them to rub against nearby components and potentially become damaged. The issue stems from the brake pipe holder not being properly positioned on the steering rack. Volkswagen will inspect and repair affected vehicles by repositioning the pipe holder and pipes as needed.

Vehicles: VW POLO. Units affected: 42,414
Reason
On the subject vehicles it is possible that the brake pipe holder may not have been correctly positioned on the steering rack. This could allow the brake pipe to chafe on adjoining components and cause pipe damage. Remedy: Recall the affected vehicles and if necessary modify the position of the pipe holder and pipes to eliminate the possibility of the pipes chafing on other components.
