Suzuki Gsxr750: Reduction In Braking Efficiency
Recall Summary Suzuki is recalling 176,532 GSXR750, GSXR600, and GSXR1000 motorcycles sold in the United Kingdom because moisture can accumulate in the brake fluid over time, causing corrosion inside the brake master cylinder. This corrosion can produce gas that makes the brake lever feel soft or spongy, and in severe cases may reduce braking effectiveness. Suzuki will replace the brake master cylinder on affected motorcycles.
- Recalling firm
- SUZUKI GB PLC
- Product
- Vehicles: SUZUKI GSXR750, SUZUKI GSXR600, SUZUKI GSXR1000. Units affected: 176,532
- Reason
- Moisture is absorbed by the brake fluid over time due to its hygroscopic nature. This moisture can cause corrosion to form in the piston and return spring within the brake master cylinder. As this corrosion forms it can cause the fluid to react and produce a small amount of gas. This gas may give a softer or spongy feel to the brake lever. In extreme cases this could reduce braking efficiency. Remedy: Recall all affected machines and replace the brake master cylinder.
