BMW Motorrad R Series: Engine May Cut Out

BMW Motorrad is recalling 668 R Series motorcycles because water can seep into the fuel pump electronics cavity, corroding the electrical contacts and causing the fuel pump to fail intermittently, which may cause the engine to stall. The fix involves installing a new O-ring seal under the fuel pump and replacing the fuel pump unit if necessary. This recall affects motorcycles distributed in the United Kingdom.

Vehicles: BMW MOTORRAD R SERIES. Units affected: 668
Reason
It is possible for water to ingress into the cavity underneath the fuel pump electronics and corrode the electrical contacts of the fuel pump. This will lead to sporadic failure of the fuel pump and cause the engine to cut out and possibly back in. Remedy: Recall the machines that are likely to be affected and where necessary fit a new O ring seal under the body of the fuel pump body. Additionally if necessary replace the fuel pump unit.
