Volvo Bus B5lh: Engine May Overheat
Volvo is recalling 164 B5LH buses because they were manufactured with incorrect software that disables the engine heat temperature sensors. Without functioning sensors, drivers will not receive warnings if the engine overheats, which could potentially cause engine damage if the vehicle is not stopped in time. Volvo will fix the issue by downloading updated software to the affected vehicles.
- Recalling firm
- VOLVO BUS
- Product
- Vehicles: VOLVO BUS B5LH. Units affected: 164
- Reason
- The Soft Ware applied during manufacture was incorrect for Medium Duty Engines. All heat temperature sensors are affected and are not functioning. The Heat Sensor function is lost and there is no warning to driver if temperature reaches specified limit. If the driver does not stop the vehicle as it starts to overheat it is possible for the engine to seize. Remedy: Recall the vehicles that are likely to be affected and download updated software.
