Volvo Bus B5lh: Engine Hatch May Show Closed In Error Enabling Engine To Be Started
Recall Summary Volvo Bus is recalling 84 B5LH buses because corrosion can cause the engine hatch switches to malfunction, making the hatch appear closed when it's actually open. This allows the engine to start while the hatch is open, which could injure maintenance workers in the engine compartment. Volvo will replace the faulty switches with new ones.

- VOLVO BUS
- Product
- Vehicles: VOLVO BUS B5LH. Units affected: 84
- Reason
- It has been identified that due to corrosion the engine hatch switches may become stuck in closed or compressed position. This will indicate that the hatch is closed regardless of whether the hatch is in the open or closed position. In this condition the engine can be started with the hatch in the open position. This will therefore pose a risk of injury to any maintenance staff working in the engine compartment. Remedy: Recall all affected vehicles to replace the current switches with new roller type switches.
