Prius Recall Summary Toyota is recalling 2,132 Prius vehicles (2WD, AWD, and PHEV models) produced between September 2023 and November 2025 because the rear door's electric open switch can malfunction if water accumulates around it and the door is closed too forcefully. When this happens, water can enter the switch's internal circuit, causing it to short and fail to keep the door locked, which could result in the rear door opening unexpectedly while driving. The manufacturer will install an additional electrical circuit to prevent unintended rear door opening.
