Suzuki Vlr1800: Engine May Stall And/or Fail To Start

Recall Summary Suzuki is recalling approximately 274,053 motorcycles from multiple models because the regulator/rectifier component may have a faulty adhesive that allows moisture to damage it. When the circuit board inside loosens and warps from heat, it can cause the charging system to malfunction, leading to battery discharge, engine stalling, or failure to start. Suzuki will replace the regulator/rectifier on affected motorcycles.

Reason
The adhesive used to fix the circuit board to the outer casing of the regulator/rectifier may have been affected by moisture. Due to the insufficient adhesion the heat generated can cause the circuit board to deform and lift away from the case. This condition causes excessive heat and uncontrolled electric current output which can result in the poor charging to the battery battery discharge the engine stalling and or a No-start condition. Remedy: Recall the machines that are likely to be affected and replace the regulator rectifier.
