Honda Motorcycles Gl1800: Rear Brake May Overheat With A Possibility Of Fire

Honda is recalling 3,642 GL1800 motorcycles because a blocked port in the rear brake system can cause the brake to drag, overheat, and potentially catch fire. The issue affects motorcycles distributed in the United Kingdom. Honda will inspect and replace the affected brake component if necessary.

Product
Vehicles: HONDA MOTORCYCLES GL1800. Units affected: 3,642
Reason
It is possible under certain conditions for the compensator port in the Dual Combined Brake System Secondary Master Cylinder to block. This will allow the rear brake to drag with the attendant increase in temperature which eventually could lead to a fire. Remedy: Recall the machines that are likely to be affected to inspect the free play of the Secondary Master Cylinder using a special tool to ensure there is no blocking of the port and if necessary replace the Secondary Master Cylinder with a modified part.
