Cadillac Corvette: If The Voltage Is Low The Fuel Shut Off May Not Occur

Cadillac Corvette Recall Summary Cadillac is recalling approximately 105 Corvettes because a power loss to the engine control module could prevent the fuel shut-off system from working, potentially allowing the vehicle to accelerate while the steering column lock is engaged. The same electrical issue could also cause the steering wheel lock to remain engaged even when the ignition is on, preventing the wheel from turning. The fix involves reprogramming the engine control module and inspecting or replacing the steering lock if needed.

Product
Vehicles: CADILLAC CORVETTE. Units affected: 105
Reason
The possibility exists that an interruption of or low voltage supply to the power train module may allow the vehicle to be accelerated with the steering column lock still engaged. Additionally the column lock may under certain circumstances remain locked when the ignition key is in the on position thus preventing the steering wheel from being turned. Remedy: Likely to be affected vehicles will be recalled at which time the PCM will be reprogrammed. At the same time the steering lock will be checked for correct tolerance and replaced if necessary.
