Volvo Trucks Fh: Brakes May Apply Without Warning Or Longer Than Expected Stopping Distances Could Occur

Volvo Trucks is recalling 246 FH and FM model trucks because brake hoses at the front may be too short and could detach from their connections. This could cause the parking brakes to apply unexpectedly or result in longer stopping distances if the service brakes fail. The company will replace the affected brake hoses with longer ones.

Product
Vehicles: VOLVO TRUCKS FH, VOLVO TRUCKS FM. Units affected: 246
Reason
The brake hoses for the front spring actuators are of insufficient length and the hoses for the front service brakes could be of insufficient length. In certain circumstances the hoses can detach from the nipple allowing the parking brakes to apply or in the case of service brake hose failure longer than expecting stopping distances could occur. Remedy: Recall the vehicles that are likely to be affected and replace the front spring brake hoses and where necessary front service brake hoses with ones of sufficient length.
