Suzuki Dl1000al5: Engine May Cut Out
Recall Summary Suzuki is recalling 1,778 DL1000AL4 and DL1000AL5 motorcycles sold in the United Kingdom because the ignition switch terminals may corrode if exposed to moisture, potentially causing the engine to cut out or continue running after the key is removed. Additionally, the wiring harness under the fuel tank may wear through and damage the electrical connection, also causing the engine to cut out. Suzuki will replace the wiring harness and reposition the electrical ground point to fix both issues.
- Recalling firm
- SUZUKI GB PLC
- Product
- Vehicles: SUZUKI DL1000AL5, SUZUKI DL1000AL4. Units affected: 1,778
- Reason
- Two concerns. 1. If corrosive liquids enters the ignition switch it can cause the terminals inside to corrode. This can result in either the engine still running after the key has been taken out or a disconnection of the power supply allowing the engine to cut out. 2. A wiring loom may abrade on the underside of the fuel tank which can lead to rough running and eventually the engine will cut out. Remedy: Recall the machines that are likely to be affected and replace the wiring loom and reposition the earth point which will solve both the aforementioned concerns.
