Mazda Mx5: Control Logic Which Monitors The Charging Control Program Fails To Divert Electrical Power Away From Capacitor In The Event Of A Fault

Recall Summary Mazda is recalling 1,930 MX5 and CX-3 vehicles because a control system fails to cut power to a capacitor when it detects a fault, which can cause the engine to stall or the power converter to overheat and potentially catch fire. Owners will see warning lights on the dashboard (i-ELOOP and i-Stop) when this problem occurs. Mazda will fix this by reprogramming the engine control unit, and in some cases replacing the power converter if a specific error code is present.
