Mitsubishi Grandis: Exhaust Heat Shield May Detach

Recall Summary Mitsubishi is recalling 891 Grandis vehicles because the exhaust heat shield can detach during high-speed driving due to stress around the muffler. Petrol-engine vehicles will receive a redesigned heat shield, while diesel-engine vehicles will have the shield removed entirely since testing shows it's not necessary for those models. This recall affects Mitsubishi Grandis vehicles distributed in the United Kingdom.

Product
Vehicles: MITSUBISHI GRANDIS. Units affected: 891
Reason
It has been identified that during high speed driving high stresses are generated around the exhaust muffler heat shield which in the worst case scenario can cause the shield to detach from the vehicle Remedy: Recalled petrol engined vehicles will have the heat shield replaced with one of a modified design. Whereas on diesel engined vehicles testing has shown that the heat shield is not required therefore it will be removed.
