BMW 5 Series Saloon: Checking And Re-securing The Air-conditioning Wiring Harness

BMW 5 and 7 Series Recall Summary BMW is recalling approximately 10,832 vehicles from its 5 Series, 7 Series, M5, and related models because the air-conditioning wiring harness behind the dashboard is positioned too close to a screw connection on the microfilter housing cover. When technicians replace the microfilter during regular service, the wires can become damaged or trapped, potentially causing an electrical short circuit that could lead to smoke or fire in the instrument panel. BMW will inspect the wiring harness on affected vehicles, repair any damage, and secure it with a modified fixing to prevent future damage.
