2020 Ford Escape - High Voltage
Ford is recalling certain 2020-2026 Escape and Lincoln Corsair plug-in hybrid vehicles (275,328 units) because a previous software update may not have worked properly, and a problem in the high-voltage battery could cause it to short circuit, resulting in loss of power to the wheels or battery overheating. Loss of power while driving increases crash risk, and an overheating battery can create a fire risk even when the vehicle is parked and off. Ford will mail owners with instructions once repairs are available, and recommends limiting the battery charge to 80% and using normal EV mode only until the vehicle is repaired.
