Daimler Trucks: Entrance Door May Fail To Open Or Close (electrical System)

Recall Summary Thomas Built school buses from model years 2026-2027 (SAF-T-LINER HDX2 and EFX2) have a defect in the electrical system that may prevent the entrance door from opening or closing when activated. This poses an injury risk to passengers in a crash. Daimler Trucks is developing a repair and will notify owners by mail starting August 25, 2026.

Component: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. Daimler Trucks North America, LLC (DTNA) is recalling certain 2026-2027 Thomas Built SAF-T-LINER HDX2 and Thomas Built SAF-T-LINER EFX2 school buses. The entrance door may fail to open or close when the switch is activated.

Reason

A door that fails to open or close increases the risk of injury to occupants in a crash. Remedy: The remedy is currently under development. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed August 25, 2026. Owners may contact DTNA customer service at 1-800-574-0712. DTNA's number for this recall is F1035.
